Hi,
Welcome and thanks for visiting this Forum! It's dedicated exclusively to Flight Simulator FS9 and its worldwide environments from the early years of aviation to the beginning of the Sixties. This Forum intends to share and exchange experiences and ideas to keep and enhance the fascinating eras of aviation with FS9. No other FS version could up to now offer such a diversity and such a potential to expand the default MS world. If you're interested to run the fabulous vintage and classic eras in your system, you're invited to be active here. Every contribution and post will be welcome and higly appreciated. So don't hesitate!
After having began with Sublogic's A.T.P. Air Transport Pilot in 1990, i ran almost all MS FS versions. Since 2005 my simulator is based on CalClassic's addons and aircraft, as well as a Golden Wings and its unique vintage program. As a specific part of WWII period, my FS includes the Air Transport Command and the Hump (China Burma India Theater).
My FS9 and it's different variations are essentially based on AI traffic. I keep most time on let flying appropriated aircraft in theirs appropriated environments. As far as that would be possible. So my interests in FS9 are more visual and the implementation and use of scenic possibilities. I leave technical matters to the experienced specialists known from other forums.
And what are yours?
Here some informations about myself: my full name is Bernard Leuenberger, born in 1945 and actually living in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland. I have never worked in the aviation sector. But my father was one of the first Swissair navigators in 1947 and later became chief navigator of the airline. So at least I have been familiar with the visual aspects of aviation since I was a child.
And finally this: We should be proud of a unique hobby and to be able to pursue a captivating passion. And I would say that today it is a very small group of people worldwide! And by far I'm not exaggerating.
Happy flyling!
Bernard

Hi Jorge,
Thanks for joining this forum! As you could noticed, I expanded the former one to further boards and eras in order to allow contributions with subjects concerning a greater aspect of aviation history. Some subjects of the forum are still empty, but I intend to add posts and threads to them successively. Of course, it's by far not the meaning that posts and contents here should get whole accordance or sharing. The most importance is to have a lively exchange of ideas, opnions, remarks and even critisims, as long as it remain costructive. The main intention is "celebrating FS9 in the past".
Hopefully the forum might interesting some further aficionados for this fascinating part of FS9. As long as we together are able to keep this particular version of FS9 in the air and in its unique environment, things will be on the right and good way.
Cheers, Bernard

Hi Robin,
Glad to see your again and welcome to this new forum. As the former one was too restrictively focused on Vintage era, I expanded the boards to those we know from CalClassic forum. It might give more possibilities to place posts about more subjects. Hopefully it would animate some other classic and vintage interested to exchange their experiences and their ideas here. So let's see what's going on!
Thanks for having joined this site.
Cheers, Bernard

Greetings Bernard and all! I'm always interested to be part of any forum discussing my Flight Simulator interests.
The only disappointment is the use of Proboards to run the forum, this business does not comply with UK and European law and gleefully tracks and sells users' activity. Nevertheless, I have learnt from other forums that use the same system how to combat many of these features - for instance I never post URLs as the system will modify them to direct you somewhere else.
Looking forward to reading some interesting stories and discussion. I have already found one that has told me a few things about those good old days I didn't know ...
John
PS - my "era" is firmly set in 1967; the jets flying then don't really interest me but form an active background. I prefer planes with propellers on the front.

Hi John,
Welcome aboard and thanks for joining this forum! I am especially pleased to have an experienced and longtime FS9 expert among us. You also have your own homepage what is benefical too. I am convinced that we, and hopefully together with some other interested parties, can have a lively and constructive exchange and input here. And, above all, that the enthusiasm for the earlier aviation years and their implementation in FS9, which has been somewhat neglected or at least waning, can live on for as long as possible. waning As we are familiar with Propbards from other forums, I found the platform offered to be relatively simple and easy to manage. I am not bothered by any side effects or external uses.
While starting this forum, I have created a few posts to stimulate the activities. But it is by no means the intention to offer a one man show. As I have often said, it is first and foremost expression the joy and passion of practicing a quite special and more and more unique hobby!
Cheers,
Bernard

I am especially pleased to have an experienced and longtime FS9 expert among us. Bernard - you must be mistaking me for somebody else, ha ha! Long term, yes, but I would never consider myself as experienced as many. That is why I often visit and read forums but might not seem to post a lot - there is always a lot to learn. Here's hoping the forum blooms forth and flourishes! John

Well, for someone whose name can be found numerously in many forums and libraries, can certainly be called "experienced"!

Meanwhile this forum got two new members, Dihedral2 and Unicom. Thanks to have joined it, and hopefully this meets your expectations and ideas that you have in connection with vintage and retro flying. Any advice, ideas and experiences are highly welcome and will help to keep and bring forward the FS9 in very special eras of aviation. This also revives the enthusiasm and fascination of this hobby.
I am particularly pleased that Alexander Belov (Unicom), a very experienced designer of very well-known scenery for the Roaring Thirties, might enrich this forum. Some of what I have put on the forum so far don't reach the standards which Alexander Belov set with his creations. But the contributions shouldn't require evaluations, but rather offer inspirations and suggestions. I assume that this is and will be your motivations too.

Just an idea, the Russian scenery at rusaviagold.narod.ru/ looks so interesting, would it be possible to have more info about it. I would really like to but a Russian PW together, but I'm have a problem working through a translation of the site. Regards Robin

Bernard! Best of luck with this venture. I know FS9 is still in wide use. I even have it installed on an old hard drive. Its good to see you have some traffic. I probably won't visit often as "old age" has caught up with me and my attention span for the computer has faded a bit. Its hard to believe that The Old Hangar started almost 26 years ago. I wish you the best. Hope the forum is a great success. Take Care - Tom
